Specifications

The load limit switch can be installed onto a hoist at the rope's dead end or equalizer sheave. It can be designed for other installations with a power reel or remote control.

It is very simple to install - it can be clamped onto the wire rope without the need to cut the wire rope or make modifications to the hoist.

The load limit device is activated from the deflection of the rope when the hook lifts the load. This increases the tension of the rope, which activates the limit device. The device can be electrically connected with the hoist's switch for either up or down motion, depending on the motion to be controlled. As well, it can work as both an upper limit switch and load limit switch as a special order.

Operation
Limit Switches can be custom built to work with load limits, upper limits, and slack rope limits.
  • Load Limit - in the case of an overload, the rope will stretch, activating the switch to stop the hoist's upward motion.

  • Upper Limit - if the hoist were to travel past its upper limit, the hook block would catch on the limit switch plug activating the switch to stop the hoist. (DF Series).

  • Slack Rope Limit - in the case of a slack rope, the lack of tension will activate the switch to stop the hoist's downward motion.
Installation Instructions

Remove the clamp and roller from the limit device. Place the limit device at the highest point on the rope's dead end, leaving enough room for the load limit device to avoid contact with other parts, the crane or hoist.

Fasten the limit device to the rope, making sure the clamp is tight against the rope. Now, connect limit device electrically. Connect in series with the coil of contactor up for single speed hoist. The opposite connections are for slack rope.

In case of two speed hoist, a small relay may be required.
